Cuba’s Ambassador to Grenada, Yadirys Echenique Paz, and Consul Ariel Pazos Ortiz, participated in the official commemoration of Grenada’s National Heroes Day, held in the city of St. George’s and attended by the Governor-General, the Prime Minister, as well as government officials, members of Parliament, the diplomatic corps, and other prominent political and social authorities of the country.
During the ceremony, participants paid tribute to the historic figures who contributed to the building of the Grenadian nation and reaffirmed the importance of preserving the legacy of those who devoted their efforts and sacrifices to the defense of Grenada’s sovereignty, independence, and development. The event featured cultural performances, commemorative speeches, and expressions of respect for the nation’s heroes.
Cuba and Grenada are united by the heroism of their peoples. In October 1983, Cuban internationalist workers gave their lives alongside Grenadian patriots during the United States military invasion of the small Caribbean island.
