Cuban researcher from the Center of Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology acts as first opponent in the defense of a PhD Thesis at the Oslo Metropolitan University (OsloMet)

Oslo, May 12, 2023. Dr. Diana García del Barco Herrera, leader of the Neuroprotection project at the Biomedical Research Division of the Cuban Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology , acted as the first opponent in the defense of the Doctoral Thesis in Health Sciences by Linda Thøring Øverberg, at the Oslo Metropolitan University (OsloMet).

The outstanding performance of the Cuban scientist in the opposition to the thesis entitled "Exercise-induced brain plasticity-potential roles of lactate receptor HCA1 in neurogenesis and mood regulation, and neurotrophic factors in stroke" was recognized by the academics and researchers of the OsloMet Faculty of Health Sciences, and also by the PhD candidate herself.

The Cuban ambassador to Norway, Mrs. Maité Rivero Torres, who was present at the thesis defense, congratulated Dr. García del Barco Herrera for having demonstrated the high professional level of the Cuban scientists and also the development achieved by science in Cuba.

This fact opens the way to future collaborations between the Cuban Center of Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology and OsloMet and the University of Oslo in the academic, scientific and research fields.
