The Hague, April 13 2018. The Embassy and the Consulate of Cuba in the Netherlands held a cordial meeting with a group of Cuban residents who are preparing to take part in the 12th Meeting of Cuban Residents in Europe, which will be held on October 19, 20 and 21 in Brussels, Belgium.
The Ambassador Soraya Álvarez welcomen the group in the Resdency of the Embassy of Cuba in The Hague and underlined the importance of these meetings of Cubans in Europe in which they debate over topics of interest for our country and expressed the disposition of the Embassy to support and facilitate the presence of Cuban residents in the Netherlands in such relevant meeting. She also commented it was timely to go over the organizational details at such an early stage as well as value initiatives that the delegation could bring to Brussels.
Consul General Rafael Lesca explained that the event is still in the preparatory stage and that more details of the organization of the event would be available uin the next few days. This will make possible to circulate the information about the event in case more Cubans would be interested in taking part in the regional meeting. He also stressed the importance of the participation of descents of Cubans and the importance of preserving our cultural roots among them.
Among the guests, there were Cubans who have take part in previous editions of the regional event, who explained their experiences in these meetings, the topics debated over and the activities carried out. They also expressed their intent to bring new initiatives to the meeting to contribute to its success.
