Cuban sociologists join the Norwegian University of Stavanger for Master´s and Doctoral studies.

Oslo, September 2, 2023. A new group of Cuban professors and researchers recently joined the University of Stavanger (UiS) as part of the cooperation project “Wellbeing in Cuba and Norway. Strengthening professional training on social policies and welfare from an intercultural perspective”, in force between the Department of Social Studies of that Norwegian center of higher studies and the Department of Sociology of the University of Havana (UH).

Master's students Gissell Hernández Pérez, Yaimi González Silva and Anagret Mederos Anido, as well as doctoral student Yeny Delgado Brito will study the autumn semester at the UiS on topics related to the gender approach, equality and social welfare, intercultural practices and ethics in social work.

They are all postgraduate students from the Department of Sociology of the UH, and they represent several Cuban institutions in the scientific and academic field: the Center of Studies for the Improvement of Higher Education (CEPES), of the University of Havana;  the Center for Psychological and Sociological Research (CIPS), and the Central University "Marta Abreu" of Las Villas.

Until next December, they will be benefiting from scholarships that fulfill one of the main objectives of the project: the strengthening of professional skills. (Embassy of Cuba in Norway)
