Guyana, Georgertown, November 3, 2023. Solidarity organizations in Guyana conveyed congratulatory messages to the Cuban people on the victory at the UN. Halim Khan, president of the Guyana-Cuba Solidarity Movement, and Gerald Perreira, president of the Organization for the Victory of the People, expressed their satisfaction at the support of the international community in the vote on the Resolution demanding the lifting of the immoral policy of the Blockade. The results show the majority support for Cuba by the International Community and the complete isolation of the USA for its illegal, abusive and morally unsustainable policy, 187 countries voted in favour of the Resolution, 2 against and only one abstention. This support from solidarity organizations is accompanied by statements from the government of Guyana which has declared its solidarity with Cuba in favour of the immediate end of the blockade and the removal of Cuba from the infamous US list of countries that allegedly sponsor terrorism. Her Excellency the Ambassador of Guyana to the United Nations emphasized at the first session of the UN General Assembly that Guyana supports the lifting of the blockade, while the Honourable Prime Minister of Guyana expressed this in Havana during the G77 plus China Summit describing the embargo against the people of Cuba as unjust. His Excellency the President of Guyana, Dr. Mohamed Irfaan Ali, has ratified this position of the Government of Guyana.
