The Cuban State Mission in Jamaica pays homage to Martí on the 169th anniversary of his birth

The Cuban State Mission in Jamaica pays homage to Martí on the 169th anniversary of his birth.

Kingston, Jamaica, 27 January 2022. The collective of our State Mission gathered at sunset around the bust of José Martí, with the flag and the lone star as witnesses, to pay homage to the most universal of all Cubans in the 169th anniversary of his birth.

In a ceremony full of symbolism, those present recalled the example of the Apostle of the Independence of Cuba and the values of patriotism, honesty, responsibility, solidarity and anti-imperialism that he left as a legacy and have become part of our identity as a nation. As relevant as his patriotic vocation, and closely linked to it, was Martí’s literary and poetic creation. As shown by the young student Yelani García Arencibia, who recited one of his most famous poems from the book "Simple Verses".

Within the framework of the act, the Electoral Commission of the Constituency was set up, which will carry out the discussions and voting on the new Family Code, a document that attests to Martí's maxim that the Cuban republic must be one "with all and for the good of all.”
