The prominent political scientist Dr. Joseph Tennyson published in his weekly column in the barbadian newspaper The Nation an article entitled "Persistent blockade" reflecting the strong position of the Cuban people and government against the blockade imposed by the United States nearly six decades ago which is still in force, despite the intention and the limited measures decreed by president Barack Obama. Based on the presentation of the Annual Report on the effects of the blockade to the Cuban economy by the Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez, the columnist notes that the image of normality presented to the world is deceptive and that it is unacceptable that this situation persists, especially in a scenario in which many could accept that the blockade has been lifted. In rejecting the extraterritorial nature of the blockade, the author believes it would be a serious mistake for the Caribbean region guard down assuming that all is well between the USA and Cuba and insists that it must remain alert and supporting the international demand of Cuba, whose government has reiterated that while the blockade persists it will be debated in all forums, and echoing the Chancellor's statement, he reinforced the idea that while this circumstance exist there will be a resolution in the UN General Assembly for its total lifting.
