Cuban trade unionists exchange with members of the Friendship Association and Cubans living in Norway. Together they celebrate Cuban Culture Day

Oslo, October 20, 2022. The delegation of the Cuban Unions of Public Administration Workers (SNTAP) and Communications, Information Technology and Electronics Workers (SNTCIE) that is in this capital participating in the V Congress of the Norwegian Union of Municipal and General Employees (Fagforbundet), exchanged at the Embassy with members of the Norway-Cuba Friendship Association and Cubans living in this European country.

Yaisel Osvaldo Pieter Terry and Niurki Sosa de los Reyes, general secretary and member of the SNTAP Secretariat, and Erlín Rondón Cedeño and Alba de la Caridad Estevanez Novo, general secretary and member of the SNTCIE Secretariat, spoke about relevant aspects of the current Cuban reality, such as the energy situation, the transformations in the economic sector, the impact of the US blockade, the damage caused by Hurricane Ian, the progress of the work of recovery, the international solidarity, among others.. They also made reference to the Cuban trade union movement and its relations of cooperation with Norwegian counterparts.

In recognition of the permanent support of the Friendship Association for the Cuban Revolution, Pieter Terry, who is also a member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba, presented Berit Moen, its acting president, with the book “Hasta siempre Fidel”.

The opportunity was propitious to celebrate the Day of the Cuban Culture. After an explanation about the date given by Erlín Rondón Cedeño, the meeting began with the glorious notes of the Anthem of Bayamo. Yossiel Coronado, a Cuban resident, closed it with a beautiful interpretation of the song "My blue unicorn", by Silvio Rodríguez. (Embassy of Cuba in Norway)
