The Cuban Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs holds a meeting with the President of Sinn Féin.

Dublin October 1, 2018. On his third day of stay in the Irish capital, Cuban vice Chancellor Ana Teresita González Fraga held a courtesy visit in the Irish Parliament's headquarters to Mary Lou McDonald, president of Sinn Féin, a party that maintains a fraternal relationship with the Revolution, the Cuban people and its Communist Party.

Both sides exchanged about the events in their respective countries and region. The Cuban vice Minister offered detailed information on the progress of the popular consultation process of the new text of the Cuban Constitution that will be submitted to a referendum in February 2019.

Another topic of exchange was the consequences of the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States Government on Cuba for six decades and the impact of complementary sanctions imposed by the Trump administration to intensify it and reverse bilateral relations between both States. The leader of Sinn Féin ratified the unwavering solidarity of her Party with Cuba and its support for the efforts of broad international sectors that demand the lifting of the blockade, while the Cuban counterpart expressed its deep appreciation for the solidarity supporting this noble cause.

In the meeting held, the commitment of Sinn Fein and the Communist Party of Cuba to continue deepening ties of friendship and cooperation was also evident.
