Vatican City, April 26, 2025.- The vice president of the Republic of Cuba, Salvador Valdés Mesa, presided over the official Cuban delegation that participated, representing the Cuban State, Government and people, in the Funeral Liturgy on the occasion of the death of the Roman Pontiff Francis.
The Cuban representation paid tribute to the pontificate of Francis, an example of tenacious work in defense of peace, fraternity among peoples, attention to the marginalized and the search for sustainable solutions to the pressing challenges facing humanity.
In his outstanding career as Head of State and spiritual leader, Pope Francis made important contributions to strengthening relations between the Holy See and Cuba, based on respectful dialogue and moved by deep feelings of affection towards the Cuban people.
