The Vice President of the Council of State, Mercedes López Acea, also member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC), and first Secretary of the Provincial Committee of Havana, was received at the seat of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), by its acting National President, Mr. Freddie Blay.
The Cuban Vice President said that the visit to the NPP´s headquarters is part of the objectives of the tour in terms of strengthening ties with Ghana, specifically the relations between the two parties, and based on this, she ratified Mr. Blay's invitation to visit Cuba. She also expressed the commitment of Cuba to continue cooperating with Ghana in the already established sectors such as education and health, as well as in others that arise.
The acting President of the NPP, agreed on the need to strengthen the ties between both parties, and recognized the work carried out in Ghana by Cuban collaborators in the Health sector. In his speech he expressed that Cuba and Ghana could cooperate in sectors such as sports, education, culture and tourism.
On the Ghanaian side also attended the meeting the Secretary General of the NPP, Mr. John Boadu; the Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Charles Owiredu, who before his appointment in the current position served as Director of International Relations of the party; the President of the Council of Elders; the Director of International Relations of the NPP, Mr. Emmanuel Attafuah-Danso; the Ambassador of Ghana in Cuba, Mr. Napoleon Abdulai; as well as other party managers.
The Cuban Vice President was accompanied by the Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mrs. Ana Teresita González; the Ambassador of Cuba to Ghana, Mr. Pedro Luis Despaigne González; and Ambassador Mr. Sidenio Acosta, official of the Sub-Saharan Africa Division at the Cuban Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
