With the presence of officials who traveled from Havana to celebrate this important occasion and other major events such as Sadia Acosta Brooks, from the Ministry of Culture (MINCULT) and Yamil Martinez, from the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP), the Embassy of Cuba summoned the Barbadian friends and the community of Cuban residents to a multifaceted activity in the framework of the Day for National Culture Day, held at the Art Gallery of Errol Barrow Center for Creativity and Imagination (EBCCI). Culture and national identity joined in the voices of those present to sing the National Anthem, to honor the 147th anniversary of its creation, becoming a symbol of the Cuban nation.
The representative of MINCULT opened the session with an interesting lecture entitled motivated a crowded audience made up of politicians, diplomats, academics, intellectuals and representatives of various social sectors, to actively exchange with questions "An accomplice to contemporary Cuban culture approach" and reflections, highlighting not only the importance of cultural identity in the formation and consolidation of the Cuban nation, but also in encouraging Latin American and Caribbean integration.
For its part, the delegate of ICAP extended warm greetings to all Barbadians friends who have gone with revolutionary Cuba in the last six decades of mutual solidarity in moments of joy and struggle, as was the victorious battle for liberation of the Cuban Five unjustly imprisoned for 16 years in US jails, or the intense campaign for the unconditional lifting of the blockade and all forms of hostility against the Cuban people, which remains true today with a promising future.
The night was ample enjoyment for the present, because in the cocktail closing could taste Cuban drinks, including the famous "Mojito", while members of the Cuban community residing executed a cultural program with different manifestations like the song, traditional dance interpretation of classical pieces on the piano, contemporary dance, ending with an interesting spontaneous fusion to the beat of Cuban music performed by music students of the Barbados Community College, whom the applause of recognition from the audience took.
