On the occasion of the 166th anniversary of José Martí birthday, the Embassy of Cuba in Denmark organized a journey to pay tribute to Cuba's National Hero. Firstly, an activity with a group of Cuban residents in Denmark and their descendants took place in the diplomatic premise where the Cuban consul explained some episodes about Marti’s life which are poorly known. White flowers were laid to the bust of the Apostle by the participants.
In addition, Danish friends paid tribute to José Martí in a meeting with the Cuban ambassador where they exchanged about the current validity of the Latinamericanist and anti-imperialistic thought of the Cuban national hero. They recalled the book published in the Danish language "José Martí. Life and work, its interpretation about the United States ", written by the author Jorn R. Hansen, which reflects his intense revolutionary labor to achieve the independency of Cuba. In the event the Danish solidarity also highlighted its support to the Cuban Revolution and to the ongoing process of constitutional reform. In this context, the Danish-Cuban Association of Friendship announced that they will send a letter to the Danish authorities calling them to reject the threat of activating the Title III of Helms Burton Act by the US government, given its harmful extraterritorial scope.
