The staff of the Embassy of Cuba, the organizations that make up the Solidarity Campaign to Cuba, a representation of the Cuban Medical Brigade and Cubans residing in the country paid tribute to the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution on the first anniversary of his physical disappearance.
In the political-cultural activity started with a minute of silence and the national anthems of Ghana and Cuba, delivered speeches: the first Ambassador of Ghana to Cuba, Mr. Kojo Amoo Gottfreid; the First Vice President of the Ghana Trade Union Congress (TUC), Mr. Alexander Nyarko-Opoku; the leader of the Ghana Socialist Forum (FSG), Mr. Kwesi Pratt; Mrs. Nana Yaa Gyemfua, for the pan-African party All African People Revolutionary Party (A-APRP); Mr. Benjamin Angyare and Mr. David Ampofo, on behalf of the Association of Ghanaians Trained in Cuba (ESBECAN) and Mrs. Julia Amparo Pinto, on behalf of the Cubans living in Ghana, also expressed her feelings towards the Commander in Chief.
All the interventions had as main element the teachings of Fidel, and as he was the creator of the relations of Cuba with the African continent, and especially with Ghana. The speakers emphasized Fidel's ability to teach us to interpret the future and committed to continue honoring his memory, supporting Cuba in the historic battle against the blockade.
The closing words corresponded to the Ambassador, Pedro Luis Despaigne González, who briefly addressed the impact of Fidel in numerous spheres of the social, economic and political life of Cuba and the world.
As part of the activity, the young student of journalism, Jean Philip Lawson read a poem of his authorship dedicated to Fidel and a duo of traditional musicians entertained with their songs in Bambara. A film dedicated to the historical leader of the Revolution was also exhibited.
The homage to Fidel was filmed by the television channels Pan African Television and Angel TV and reported by the radio station Hot FM.
