Cubans and Namibians commemorate Fidel's 94th birthday.

Namibia, August 13th, 2020- On the occasion of the 94th birthday of Commander in Chief Fidel Castro, a representation of Cubans and Namibians paid tribute to him on the street that bears his name, located in the center of Windhoek, capital of Namibia.

The international situation, caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, forced the organization of a simple but heartfelt tribute. However, still remain in memory, the mass events carried out in previous years to pay tribute to Fidel in other parts of this country

The Cuban ambassador to Namibia, Sidenio Acosta, praised the Commander-in-Chief's legacy. Likewise, he recalled his indisputable contribution to the struggle for the liberation of this African nation and other countries in the world. The Ambassador invited those present to continue honoring the memory of Fidel, through the daily work for Cuba and Namibia.

For her part, Cecilia Muzile, general secretary of the Namibia - Cuba Friendship Association, recalled her arrival on the Isle of Youth in 1978, after the Cassinga Mascare. At that time, about 600 surviving children of that genocide arrived in Cuba at the initiative of the Commander in Chief. Cecilia recalled the teachings received from Fidel, who visited them on countless occasions. In addition, she praised the prominent role of the Cuban leader in the independence of her country.

Finally, with cheers to Cuba, Namibia, and Fidel, those present placed a wreath on the poster where begins  Fidel Castro Street.
