Cubans in Barbados Celebrate July 26th

Nationals residing in Barbados, Barbadians who studied in Cuba, Barbadian guests and members of the State Mission recalled yesterday, July 28, at the headquarters of the Cuban Embassy in Barbados, the historic feat of July 26, 1953, when a group of young rebels led by our Commander in Chief, Fidel Castro Ruz, staged the assaults on the Moncada Barracks and the Carlos Manuel de Céspedes Barracks.

July 26 is a date of national significance for both Barbados and Cuba. Two heroic events coincide in the history of two countries in the same geographical region, the Caribbean. For Barbados, it is the Day of Barbadian National Significance, for Cuba, the Day of National Rebellion.

The same day in history, two different historical moments, but with the same purpose and the same political and philosophical essence, independence from neocolonialism.

The Chargé d'Affaires of the Cuban Embassy in Barbados, Olga Dalmau González, who was in charge of the central words of the activity, said that this historical coincidence is one more reason to strengthen the bonds of friendship and cooperation that unite our peoples in the endeavor that a better world is possible.
