Under the emblem "The Cuban culture sword and shield of our nation", the 7th Cuban Meeting of Cuban Living in Ghana and the 3rd Meeting of Children and Youth were held at the T-Havana Parks, on the "Cuban Culture Day". The meeting was attended by 52 people, including Cuban residents, children and other relatives.
The meeting was conducted by Yovanna Cobas and Beatriz Roll, Coordinator and Vice-Coordinator of the Association of Cubans Living in Ghana, who emphasized the importance of both meetings in a month where important historical dates are celebrated.
The Consular Officer, Eulalia Cárdenas, updated attendees on immigration and consular issues such as: the new method of paying the consular fees through the bank in local currency, the immigration measures put into effect as of January 1 of 2018 and, the reiteration of the invitation to Cubans residing abroad to participate in the constitutional debate through an online page as an unprecedented fact in the history of the Revolution, which demonstrates the Government's willingness to count on the opinions of all Cubans.
Within the framework of its 3rd Meeting the new descendants of Cubans, had the opportunity to approach the fundamental elements of the History of Cuba and Cuban culture, they could also express, in different ways, their love and gratitude to the Cuban Revolution.
In his closing remarks, the Ambassador Pedro Luis Despaigne González, emphasized that the participation of Cubans living abroad in the debate on the Constitutional Project is a sign of the Government's policy to continue strengthening the ties between the Revolution and Cubans living in other countries. He also thanked them for their commitment to Cuba and ratified that the Cuban Embassy in Ghana is the home of all Cubans.
In its Final Declaration, the Cuban living in Ghana highlighted the role of the National Unity in the confrontation to the blockade, in the rejection of the permanence in Cuban territory of the Guantanamo Naval Base, as well as in the successes achieved by the Cuban Revolution, and in the possibility that they can express their criteria on the constitutional project.
As part of the activity, the attendees enjoyed Cuban music and the delicacies of typical food.
At these meetings, the acting Director of the Africa and Middle East Division of the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP), Yahimí Rodríguez Flores, who was in Ghana as part of a regional tour, attended as a guest of honor.
