Accra, 19 October, 2024. - The Embassy of the Republic of Cuba in Ghana was honoured with the presence of Cubans living in the African country to celebrate Cuba Culture Day with games and the screening of the film Habanastation. The event also featured national melodies and dominoes.
The welcoming address was given by the Consular Affairs Officer, Shandra García Bruzón, who expressed the importance of the date, of the union of Cuban citizens in Cuba and abroad, emphasising the relevance of this matter in the circumstances that Cuba has been facing for 62 years, an unjust economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the US government. She also recalled how damaging the inclusion of our country on the list of countries sponsoring terrorism has been.
This year, the Cuba Culture Day was dedicated to Alejo Carpentier, as well as to the 65th anniversary of the creation of the Cuban Institute of Cinematographic Art and Industry, ICAIC.
To close the event, the Ambassador of the Republic of Cuba, Anette Chao García, thanked for the opportunity to exchange, to remember the roots and reiterated the call for unity in order to favour the country. She commented on the difficult energy situation on the island, expressing her confidence that we will get out of this complex situation and move forward for a better Cuba. Finally, he introduced the Cuban film to be shown.
