Accra, October 21, 2023. - Cubans living in the Republic of Ghana gathered to celebrate National Culture Day with songs, poems, dances, children's games and the well-known dominoes.
After listening to the Bayamo Anthem, the Ambassador of the Republic of Cuba, Anette Chao García, welcomed those present at the Cuban Residence in Ghana and conveyed the importance of unity among Cubans living in the island and abroad. She updated those present on the complex economic situation Cuba is facing due to the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the US on the island.
The event continued with the voice of Cuban residents Liz Alejandra Herrera, 10 years old, and Ramón Andrés Martínez, who performed several musical pieces. Also, the poet Israel Soto presented 5 of his Cuban-laden compositions.
The event was the occasion chosen to announce the creation of the Association of Cubans living in Ghana “Cuba Nuestra”, under the leadership of Beatriz Roll, who spoke in favour of the union of Cubans and the importance of maintaining patriotic feelings.
