Cubans residents in the United States exchange on the results of the IV Conference “The Nation and the Emigration.”

New York, January 28th, 2024.- As an expression of the unequivocal will to continue deepening ties with our nationals abroad, the Permanent Mission of Cuba to the United Nations hosted an enriching exchange on the results of the IV Conference "The Nation and the Emigration", held in Havana last November.

The meeting, in which Cubans residing in the states of New York, Connecticut, New Jersey and Florida participated, was headed by Ambassador Gerardo Peñalver Portal, first vice minister of Foreign Affairs and permanent representative of Cuba to the United Nations.

Peñalver Portal reported on the main results of the IV Conference "The Nation and the Emigration" held in Havana. He stressed that, despite the hostility of the United States government and the unprecedented intensification of the blockade, which affects all Cubans, regardless of where they are, and makes ties between families difficult, Cuba continues its rapprochement with its nationals abroad. , by the will of his people.

Attendees discussed various topics of interest such as the participation of Cubans residing abroad in the processes of cultural and socio-economic development that take place in Cuba and the new measures adopted in the recent update of Cuban immigration policy, among others. .

Also participating at the exchange were Ambassador Yuri Gala López, deputy permanent representative of the Permanent Mission of Cuba to the United Nations; the vice consul of the Cuban Embassy in the United States, Tatiana Martínez, as well as other diplomatic officials.
