The Cubans residing in Ghana during their VIII Meeting condemn the blockade

The VIII Meeting of Resident Cubans in Ghana, and the IV Meeting of Children and Youth, held at the T-Havana Parks Recreational Cultural Center in the city of Tema, Greater Accra Region, Ghana had as axes the greeting to the Day of the Cuban Culture, and the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Cuba and Ghana and of the Triumph of the Cuban Revolution.

The assistants and their closest relatives, paid tribute to the recently disappeared glory of the Cuban Culture, Alicia Alonso, and exchanged on the meaning of culture, as a weapon of resistance amid the resurgence of the blockade by the current American administration.

The Ambassador Pedro Luis Despaigne González, in his exchange with the participants, referred to the measures recently adopted by the Cuban government, and called on Cubans to be alert and increasingly united, as the ongoing project by the government of the United States is aimed at breaking cohesion among Cubans.

The Coordinator of the Association of the Cubans Residents in Ghana, Yovanna Cobas Pinto, read the Declaration of condemnation of the blockade, which defends the right of Cubans to build their future independently. The Declaration was approved by the participants.

Within the framework of these events, the members of the community exchanged with the Consular Officer Eulalia Cárdenas San Martín, on issues of migratory and consular nature, and spoke about the need for children and young people to be educated in the knowledge of the history and respect for Cuban traditions.

The activity was the culmination of a cultural - recreational activity, where traditional games, Cuban music, dance, and exquisite Cuban food were combined, recently declared "Intangible Heritage of the Cuban Nation".

The VIII Meeting of Resident Cubans in Ghana, and the IV of Children and Youth, showed that Cubans residing in this country and their families maintain ties with their country of origin.
