A representation of Cubans living in Santa Lucia came together last Saturday at the Cuban Embassy in this country, to commemorate a new anniversary of the Cuban Revolution and to celebrate the end of the year. After singing the notes of our national anthem, Ambassador Alejandro Simancas reported on the convening of the IV Conference "The Nation and Emigration" to be held from 8th to 10th April, 2020 and stressed that under the ideal of José Marti of "With all and for the good of all", the participation of all Cubans to preserve the Homeland continues to be relevant.
The Cubans in attendance also decided to sign the final declaration of the Fourth Regional Meeting of Cubans Living in Latin America and the Caribbean, which was held at the end of October in Mexico, and which establishes, among other fundamental issues, the love and respect for our Homeland and the unwavering commitment to defend its sovereignty and independence wherever we are, the strongest condemnation of the genocidal blockade of the United States government against Cuba, the immediate return to Cuba of the territory illegally occupied by the United States Naval Base in Guantánamo, against the will of the Cuban people and government and against the gratitude and commitment for our second homeland, Saint Lucia, where they live today, with the sincere contribution of their work in every sphere in which they work.
During the meeting, they also discussed the need to unite Cubans in Saint Lucia under the essential precept of love for their homeland, respect for its Government and people and unity among Cubans; and it was agreed to create the Patriotic Association of Cuban Residents in Saint Lucia, which was formed under the organization of a small executive who will begin their work and guide its actions.
