The Chargé d'Affaires a.i. of Cuba in The Gambia, Laura E. Martinez Galindo, paid an official visit to the headquarters of the prestigious newspaper The Point, where she had a fruitful exchange with its management team, composed of Pap Saine and Baba Hydara, co-publishers of the newspaper, as well as Bekai Njie, editor-in-chief.
During the meeting, the importance of the press as a fundamental tool for the dissemination of the truth and the fight against disinformation campaigns was discussed. In this sense, the role of the media friends of Cuba in denouncing the unjust economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States on the Caribbean nation was highlighted, as well as the need to demand Cuba's removal from the arbitrary list of alleged state sponsors of terrorism.
Representatives of The Point reaffirmed their commitment to ethical and objective journalism, highlighting the importance of providing coverage of important international issues, such as the situation in Cuba and its struggle for justice. Both parties also consolidated the close ties of friendship and cooperation between the Cuban Embassy in The Gambia and the media, reaffirming their commitment to the promotion of truth and solidarity among peoples.
