Kingston, 29 July 2026. The Permanent Representative of Cuba to the International Seabed Authority (ISA), Ambassador Tania López Larroque, addressed the 31st Session of the Assembly of this international body on the morning of 28 July.
In her statement under agenda item 9, the Cuban diplomat reaffirmed our country’s commitment to the principles of international cooperation, equity and sustainability that guide the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea and the work of this multilateral organisation. She emphasised that the oceans are not only a source of life and resources, but also spaces of sovereignty and identity.
Similarly, she denounced the impact of unilateral measures on efforts to build a better future at a global level. She described the effects of the genocidal policy of the blockade, the diffamatory campaigns and the energy blockade imposed by the US government against Cuba on the development of the Cuban people and on the work carried out by the delegation from the Largest of the Antilles before the AIFM.
The 31st Session of the AIFM Assembly is being held in this city from 27 to 31 July 2026.
