Permanent vice president of Vietnam Journalists Association (VJA), Ho Quang Loi, recognized Cuba´s success in facing COVID-19 pandemic, even in the context of several difficulties caused by the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States on the island.
During a meeting in Hanoi with the Deputy Head of Mission, Nancy Coro Aguiar, to review bilateral cooperation, both representatives mentioned the experiences of each country in dealing with the new coronavirus and highlighted the role of press in this context.
Quang Loi reiterated that VJA highly values its relations with the Union of Journalists of Cuba (UPEC) and the Cuban media, as well as the close cooperation with the Embassy in order to continue strengthening ties in the press field.
The Cuban official congratulated her counterpart on the 70th anniversary of VJA and on the occasion of the recognition that the institution received from secretary general of the Communist Party and President of Vietnam, Nguyen Phu Trong.
Coro Aguiar also highlighted the Vietnamese press´merit in the fight against COVID-19, considering that international surveys said the Indochinese country is placed the first in terms of transparency of information and popular credibility concerning the coverage of the pandemic.
Both officials agreed that 2020 will be a prolific year for bilateral exchange between the press institutions of both countries, since this is the year of the 60 anniversary of the Vietnam-Cuba diplomatic relations.
As part of the regular exchange with the Cuban counterparts, a VJA delegation, led by Quang Loi, visited Cuba between September 8 and 14 last year.
