Cuba's top leaders congratulate their Pakistani counterparts on the anniversary of the proclamation of the Islamic Republic.

Islamabad, March 24, 2024 _ In congratulatory letters expressing their best wishes for the development of bilateral relations, the main Cuban leaders conveyed their congratulations to their counterparts in the government of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan on the occasion of its National Day.

The letters, initialled by President Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, Prime Minister Manuel Marrero Cruz and Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla, were addressed respectively to Head of State Arif Ali Zardari, Premier Shehbaz Sharif and Foreign Minister Muhammad Ishaq Dar.  The Cuban Foreign Ministry also issued a message on the social network X in which it stressed the unchanging will to continue strengthening the close ties of solidarity and cooperation between the two countries.

Every 23 March Pakistan celebrates the anniversaries of the 1940 Lahore Resolution and the proclamation of the Islamic Republic in 1956.

Cuba and Pakistan established diplomatic relations in October 1955. Ties between the two countries gained further momentum and dynamism after the earthquake that struck the north of the South Asian nation in 2005, when more than 2,000 health workers from the Henry Reeve Contingent provided solidarity assistance.
