Cultural exchange between the Netherlands and Cuba grows

The Hague, January 29, 2024. The recently concluded International Festival Jazz Plaza 2024 became a favorable setting for the promotion of cultural exchange between Cuba and the Netherlands in the musical field.

The renowned Dutch Swing College Band, for the first time in its almost 80 years of existence, performed 3 times in Cuba as part of the Festival. This prestigious group is an international reference for classical Jazz and has over 500 albums recorded.

In addition, performed the Undercurrent Trio, which has Argentine and Dutch artists who express a variety of emotions and sensations through their music.

Also “The girls and boys of the neighborhood” returned once again to Cuba, this time to participate in the festival. Their happy and lively music made the audience dance, who enjoyed in the rhythm of Jazz-salsa.

Ernesto Montenegro's quintet also delighted on the 5 occasions in which it was presented to the Cuban public. These talented young people gave everything on stage, and the public appreciated their dedication.

The Avellaneda stage of the National Theater received the Cuban resident in the Netherlands, Ramón Valle, who in addition to the concert, offered the piano master class, as part of the XIX International Jazz Colloquium, “From Theory to Praxis: Piano Master Class”.

In total, 5 artists and groups, Cuban and foreign, from the Netherlands came together in music to participate and enrich the 39th edition of the 2024 Jazz Plaza International Festival.
