Danish press highlights intention of three North American senators to punish countries that receive Cuban medical collaboration.

The newspaper "Arbejderen", an organ of the Communist Party (KP), highlights that three US Senators Rick Scott, Ted Cruz, and Marco Rubio, presented a bill to sanction countries that sign agreements to receive Cuban doctors and nurses.

The digital page acknowledges the sympathy that has been generated in the world because of the aid of Cuba, which has sent its medical personnel to the countries affected by the Covid-19 pandemic, and points out that for this contribution, thousands of people support the proposal that the Cuban Medical Brigades (BMC) be awarded with the Nobel Peace Prize in 2021.

The text underscores the contribution of Cuban physicians since 1960, in addition to the solidarity provided to African countries during the Ebola outbreak in West Africa, for which health workers from the so-called Henry Reeve Brigade received the Prize Commemorative Doctor Lee Jong-Wook of Public Health of the World Health Organization (WHO) in 2017.

It highlights that the Cuban Foreign Minister, Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla, criticized the "desperate maneuver of the anti-Cuban senators" against Cuba's international medical cooperation, and that they threaten to punish those who do not follow "isolated and reproachable" behavior from the United States government.

It states that seven states, members of the Eastern Caribbean Organization (OECS), have issued a joint statement recognizing Cuba's contribution in the field of health to help their Caribbean counterparts in the face of the spread of Covid-19, and the rejection of the bill that classifies the humanitarian assistance of the largest of the Antilles as "human trafficking".

The same publication highlights that in line with the Cuban Foreign Minister, the Cuban ambassador to Denmark, Roger López García, rejects the draft bill of the three senators, together with the assessment that the solidarity of our doctors expresses the commitment to human health, and for saving lives in a world where around 900 million people living in poverty do not have access to medical care.
