In the framework of the Danish Travel Show "Ferie for Alle" which is held from February 22 to 24 in the Danish city of Herning, the Prime Minister of Denmark Lars Lokke Rasmussen visited the Cuban stand where he exchanged with the Cuban ambassador to that country, Yiliam Gómez Sardiñas and with the representatives of the Tourism Office of Cuba for the Nordic and Baltic countries. The Danish Head of Government showed interest in knowing about the Cuban tourist destination and its potential, the flow of Danish tourists to the Island, while he was attracted by the quality and global recognition of Cuban cigars. The Prime Minister felt the richness of the Cuban culture through the performances of a traditional music band and Cuban dancers residing in this geographical area.
On this occasion and for the first time this fair is dedicated to the Caribbean, and especially to Cuba and the Dominican Republic, two Caribbean islands that have succeeded in getting the attention of the Danes. During the opening of the event the CEO of Messecenter Herning Kongrescenter (MCH), Georg Sorensen and the CEO of the travel agency Bravo Tours, Peder Hornshoj highlighted the unique opportunities offered by these tourist destinations and encouraged participants to visit them. In this context, the celebrations marking the 500th anniversary of the founding of Havana in 2019 were highlighted.
In recent years the number of Danish tourists who have traveled to Cuba exceeds 15 thousand. "Ferie for Alle" is the largest tourism and travel fair that takes place in the Scandinavian region, which this year hosted 1131 exhibitors and some 3000 representatives of tourist agencies, tour operators and experts from that sector, with more than 61 thousand visitors .
