Day of Africa in Ghana: the indestructible ties with Cuba were ratified

The strength and scope of the ties between Cuba and Africa were recalled in Ghana by the Cuban Embassy and attended by several generations of Ghanaian graduates in Cuba, members of the solidarity movement with the Caribbean island and the Cuban residents in the country.

The Cuban Ambassador, Mr. Pedro Luis Despaigne González emphasized in his words that Cuba's ties with the African continent date back to the XVII Century with the forced arrival on the island of the first African slaves and subsequently contributed to the formation of Cuban nationality. He also expressed that after the triumph of the Cuban Revolution these ties reached other dimensions, being precisely many of the present living examples of this relationship.

Mr. Kwesi Pratt (Jr.), leader of the Socialist Forum of Ghana; Michael Paa-Quecy Adu, national president of the National Union of Students of Ghana (NUGS) and Sampson Gyan, a graduate of Mechanical Engineering at the CUJAE, who emphasized the importance and unconditional relationship between Cuba and Africa, as the example that this constitutes for all generations and the need for this relationship to be reinforced for the common good. It was also recognized that the African land received Cuban blood in support of the several national liberation movements and that despite the United States' ongoing blockade against Caribbean Island, it has never stopped sharing its knowledge and experiences with this region of the world.

The activity also allowed tasting typical African dishes combined with the Cuban food.
