Declaration of the Commission on International Relations of the National People’s Power Assembly in solidarity with the peoples of Palestine and the Saharan Arab Democratic Republic

Havana, May 14, 2022- The Commission on International Relations of the National Assembly of People’s Power of the Republic of Cuba, meeting in the context of the Fifth Extraordinary Session of the Assembly, reiterates its firmest solidarity with the just causes of the Palestinian and Saharan peoples.

 

The Commission upholds its unconditional support to a broad, just and lasting solution of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. It considers that the Palestinian people should exercise their right to self determination and have an independent and sovereign State based on the pre-1967 borders, with Eastern Jerusalem as its capital, which should ensure the return of refugees. It also condemns the recurrent attacks of Israeli forces on the Al-Aqsa Mosque.

 

The Commission likewise supports the search for a fair and final politically negotiated solution acceptable by the parties involved in the Western Sahara conflict that guarantees the legitimate exercise of the right of the Saharan people to free determination and peace in its territory, in accordance with the purposes and principles enshrined in the UN Charter, International Law and the United Nations relevant resolutions.
