Declaration of the Cuban Medical Brigade in Gambia on the occasion of July 26

  • Our principles will never be negotiated. We will defend our Revolution in all scenarios.

On July 26th, 1953, young people led by Fidel Castro proposed, at the risk of their lives, to rewrite the political and social history of a Cuba that was oppressed by the regime of dictator Fulgencio Batista.

The justness of his ideas led the Centennial Generation, as it was known in honor of the National Hero José Martí, to sow the seeds of that historic change that, despite a military failure, made it possible to raise awareness of the need to fight to change the prevailing reality, and thus build our history from January 1st, 1959.

In 1973, during the commemoration of the National Rebellion Day, the undefeated leader of the Cuban Revolution expressed:

"The Moncada taught us to turn setbacks into victories. It was not the only bitter test of adversity, but nothing could contain the victorious struggle of our people."

On the 69th anniversary of the assaults on the Moncada barracks, in Santiago de Cuba, and Carlos Manuel de Céspedes, in Bayamo, we demonstrate once again that victory lies in unity, strength and the persistence of ideas.

Today more than ever we reaffirm that Socialism is the driving force of all, and ideas are the most effective weapons we have to face the continuous aggression of our adversaries.

We reaffirm once again our commitment to the Revolution, to Fidel, to our President Miguel Díaz-Canel, to our Army General Raúl Castro, to the Communist Party of Cuba, and especially to the heroic Cuban people.

The Homeland belongs to everyone, and we will not allow it to be handed over, divided and placed in the hands of foreign interests. For that reason we are willing to defend it at the price of any sacrifice.

Our principles will never be negotiated. We will defend the Revolution in all spaces and all scenarios.

Our country has battled for its independence against the arrogance of successive US governments, which have failed with their aggression and the blockade of surrendering, annexing, swallowing and devouring us.

As our Undefeated Commander-in-Chief stated in August 1995: "Neither this generation, nor those that come after, nor the young people of today, nor those who come tomorrow, will give up this glorious fight, not only for independence, but also for equality and justice. Our people will never give up those aspirations!".

Long live July 26!

Long live the Cuban Revolution!

Long live Fidel and Raúl!

Country or Death!

OVERCOME!
