Declaration of the Cultural Association “José Martí” - Solidarity with Cuba of Greece

Remove Cuba from the arbitrary and unilateral United States list of countries that supposedly promote terrorism
The US State Department, on May 15, 2024, in an attempt to confuse public opinion, presented the unilateral list that it arbitrarily created, of countries that supposedly "do not fully cooperate with US counterterrorism efforts." "Uh." and from which, this year, they have removed Cuba.
At the same time, however, they continue to unfairly and arbitrarily include Cuba in the second list—which they also arbitrarily draw up—of countries that supposedly promote terrorism.
The United States has imposed on Cuba, for more than 60 years, a criminal economic, commercial and financial blockade that has caused enormous material and human damage to its economy and is the main obstacle to the country's development.
The inclusion of Cuba in the arbitrary, unfounded and unilateral List of alleged sponsors of terrorism is slanderous and complementary to the enormous damage caused to the Cuban economy by the measures, actions and coercive effect that automatically explodes against any State that appears mentioned in this list, regardless of what the truth is.
What we have been witnessing for years is the well-known imperialist tactic of baptizing the victim as the perpetrator and vice versa.
Cuba is not a terrorist, but a victim of terrorism, even state terrorism. These lists do not arise from international law, but are used by the United States as leverage and as a pretext to impose criminal sanctions that violate the right of the Cuban people to sovereign and independent development and prosperity.
As the "José Martí" Cultural Association - Solidarity with Cuba, we condemn this policy in the strongest terms and demand:
- Remove, once and for all, Cuba from the arbitrary and unilateral list of countries that supposedly promote terrorism
- Immediate lifting of the illegal criminal, economic, commercial and financial blockade
