DECLARATION OF NAM DEMANDING THE REMOVAL OF CUBA FROM THE UNILATERAL LIST OF COUNTRIES THAT ALLEGEDLY SPONSOR TERRORISM AND THE LIFTING OF ALL UNILATERAL COERCIVE MEASURES AGAINST THE CUBAN PEOPLE

The Non-Aligned Movement rejects the recent decision, announced on 20 January, to reinstate Cuba in the arbitrary and unilateral list of States that allegedly sponsor terrorism issued by the current Government of the United States of America, just few days after the previous Administration had decided otherwise.

Such a measure confirms the discrediting of the above-mentioned list, ignores the consistent call of international voices, including the Non-Aligned Movement, and pursues to reinforce, even more, the effects of the economic, commercial and financial embargo against Cuba, in particular, Cuba`s difficulties to carry out financial and commercial operations, causing huge material losses and economic damage and threatening the livelihood and integrity of the Cuban population.

That unjust and unfounded accusation serves as a pretext for imposing additional unilateral coercive measures against Cuba, which are contrary to the UN Charter and international law, and to the principle of neighborliness.

The Non-Aligned Movement once again reiterates its request to the Government of the United States of America to immediately remove Cuba from that list and to put an end to the economic, commercial and financial embargo imposed on that sisterly nation from more than six decades.
