Enough is enough.
Stop US terror against Venezuela C Cuba
The military threats posed by the heavily armed US Southern Command in the southern Caribbean, the ilegal killings of over 120 people off the coast of Venezuela and the Pacific coast, the targeted bombing of the capital and surrounding regions, the associated killing of numerous people in densely populated urban áreas, the military violent abduction of the elected President Maduro and his wife in a brutal cloak-and- dagger operation are a series of acts of terror that must not go unpunished and without consequences for the perpetrators. For with them, the US is systematically destroying the all-important multilaterism.
Since the US military invasion against Cuba, US administrations have committed numerous brutal violatons of international law, human rights, international principals, and civilized politics, not only against socialist Cuba, but also against other states in the region. These include, for example, the 1973 coup in Chile against the legitimate democratic government of Salvador Allende, the 1983 military invasión of the island nation of Grenada, the Contra war against the Nicaraguan government, and the bombingo of Panama City with the kidnapping of the president Noriega. The economic societal, social, culturel, ethical, and ecological destruction caused by all these imperialist atrocities still weighs heavily on the peoples of the continente today.
After years of unilateral coercive measures (sanctions), terrorist attacks and attempts to owerthrow, theft of Venezuelan state assets, an attempted military coup, and the blocking and damaging of Venezuela´s foreign trade , the bombing of Caracas and the kidnapping of the elected president and his wife are a barbaric clima of the arbitrary and ilegal domestic and foreign policy of the Trump-Rubio terrorist comandos and their MAGAgangs, which are hostile to progressive individuals, organizations and states.
The attempts made so far by many states and organizations to curb US imperialism have had little success. Since 1992, the international community has voted every year in the UN General Assembly with an overwhelming majority for an end to US aggression against Cuba. However , Washington not only disregard this unanimous demand of the international community, but is further escalating its policy of blockade, sanctions and subversions. The US administration has demonstrably violated numerous civilizational and religious principles, human and international rights, the UN Charter, and international agreements and rules.
The current Trump administration is acting in a particularly criminal and imperialistic manner: it is responsible for Cuba being almost completely cut off from international financial transfers, for blocking money transsfers to family members in Cuba, for
inhibiting foreign investment and for preventing trade relations. Added to this are media campaigns full of fake news designed to cause uncertainty and chaos.
The recent terrorist attac against Venezuela also has a direct and very dangerous impact on Cuba, as this important partner has now been wounded and deeply damaged. It is likely that numerous Venezuelan and Cuban security forces were killed. US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has already stated that Cuba should now be afraid.
The aggresive regime in Washington wants to spread fear and insecurity in a región that is slowly emancipatting itself from the impeerialiost superpower in the north. Countries in this región declared a “zone of peace” years ago. This has now been recklessly and deliberately violated. The US empire, which is in relative decline, wants to seize the rich mineral resources for US capital. In additon, China is growing influence in Latin America is to be pushed back. Venezuela, which was and is crucial for progressive peoples striving for Independence and self-determined development, is to have a system change imposed on it in accordance with the interests of the US elites.
All these crimes committed by the US must now finally be stopped, punished and atoned for, especially since the “expansionist drive” of the Trump-MAGA gang could be insatiable and is likely to take sophisticated forms (Greenland, Gaza, Canada, Panama…).
This imperialist lawlessness must finally be brought to an end. We, as NN call on all political and civil society figures and organizations to make a concrete and practical contribution to the resistance against the dangerous, monstrous US empire.
Against this backdrop, NN makes the following demands:
*We call on the UN Security Council to immediately condemn the US government´s terror against Venezuela and its president.
*We call on the European Commission and national governments to immediately condemn the US government´s terror against Venezuela and its president.
*We demand that the US government immediately release Venezuelan President Maduro and his entourage!
*We demand that the US government immediately rewturn stolen oiltankers and pay appropiate compensation for the killings and destruction in Venezuela!
*We demand that the US government immediately end its blockade, subversion and aggression against Venezuela and Cuba!
*We demand that the US government immediately withdraw US military forces from the region and from Guantánamo!
*We expect the Swedish government and the EU to demand these measures as well!
*We demand that the Swedish government and the EU take a consistent stance against the aggressive policies of the US and initiate a significant reduction of US military presence in the EU!
*We demand that the Swedish government and the EU bring about a condemnation of US terrorist measures in the relvant UN bodies!
*We demand that the Swedish government and the EU file complaints against the US before the World Trade Organization, WTO, for its economic, trade and financial blockades against Venezuela and Cuba!
*We call on the Swedish government and the EU to bring those responsible in the US before the International Court of Justice for these terrorist crimes committed by the US against Venezuela and Cuba!
