Delegation from ABLP travels to Cuba

Antigua and Barbuda, May 29, 2017 -A delegation of the ruling Antigua and Barbuda Labor Party arrived on Monday in Havana where it will complete an extensive program of activities and exchanges with Cuban organizations and entities.

The delegation is chaired by Paul Chet Greene, Chairman of the Party, Minister of Culture, Sports, Commerce, Industry and National Festivals, and Melford Nicholas, Minister of Information and Telecommunications, as well as other Labor Party senators and officials.  The delegation was sent off at the international airport of the city of St. John’s by the Cuban Ambassador, Gustavo Véliz Olivares.

Diplomatic relations with Antigua and Barbuda were established in 1994 with then Prime Minister Sir Lester Bird, National Hero of Antigua and Barbuda. Since then relations with that sister island of the Eastern Caribbean have had an upward development. The current Party Leader and Prime Minister, Honorable Gaston Browne, made an official visit to Cuba in December 2014 and last visited Havana to attend the funeral of the Commander in Chief (Cubaminrex-Embacuba Antigua and Barbuda)
