Mr. President,
We extend a warm welcome to the delegation of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania and recognize that country’s commitment to the Universal Periodic Review.
We commend Mauritania for the adoption of a more robust normative framework for the promotion and protection of human rights, as a result of the implementation of the recommendations received during the third cycle of the UPR.
In a constructive spirit, we recommend:
Continuing to strengthen the institutional response to trafficking in persons and the smuggling of migrants, with particular attention to the protection of victims.
Continuing efforts to strengthen the National Health Solidarity Fund, in support of the implementation of universal health coverage.
Advancing the implementation of the National Strategy for the Promotion and Protection of Human Rights (2023–2028).
We wish Mauritania every success in this review and in the implementation of the accepted recommendations.
