Mr. Vice-President,
We extend a warm welcome to the delegation of the Sultanate of Oman and acknowledge the country’s commitment to the Universal Periodic Review.
We commend Oman for the establishment of a Human Rights Commission, as a result of the implementation of the recommendations received during the third cycle of the UPR.
We also highlight the national efforts that have enabled Oman to become the first country in the region to obtain validation from the World Health Organization for the elimination of mother-to-child transmission of HIV/AIDS.
In a constructive spirit, we recommend that Oman:
Continue conducting training workshops aimed at preparing health workers to provide care to persons with disabilities.
Maintain the continuity of community awareness-raising programs and activities on human rights and relevant international treaties.
We wish Oman every success in this review and in the implementation of the accepted recommendations.
