A delegation from the Central of Workers of Cuba (CTC) headed by its general secretary, Ulises Guilarte, is holding the second day of its working visit to Vietnam.
Guilarte and his companions arrived in the Vietnamese capital on Tuesday and began their program of activities by meeting with the presidents of the National Assembly, Vuong Dinh Hue, and of the Vietnamese General Confederation of Labor (CGTV), Nguyen Dinh Khang.
Dinh Hue reiterated the invariable support for Cuba from the Vietnamese Communist Party, the State and the people, and the willingness to exchange experiences in the construction and national development, in addition to encouraging their companies to intensify investments in Cuba. He also recalled his successful visit to Cuba last April, during which he delivered a speech at the extraordinary session of the recently constituted National Assembly of People’s Power and met with the top leaders of the Cuban Party, State and Parliament.
Guilarte, in the meeting, explained to Dinh Hue the strategies and policies to comply with the Resolution of the 8th National Congress of the organization, the priorities to update the economic and social development model, as well as his work program in Vietnam.
Guilarte and the delegation accompanying him also held talks with the president of CGTV, who expressed his deep conviction that this visit will contribute to further consolidate and strengthen relations of traditional friendship, special solidarity and brotherhood between the unions and workers of the two countries. He also said he shared the difficulties faced by the Cuban people as a result of the blockade imposed by the United States, the negative impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic and the damage caused by natural disasters.
Dinh Khang also shared his experience in allocating land to farmers, business transformation and creating conditions for private companies to participate in the development of the economy, and went on to propose promoting the exchange of practices in the area of collective bargaining, development of union affiliation, and the training and strengthening of capacities of union leaders, among other issues.
The CTC delegation was also received by the member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of Vietnam and the head of its Organizing Commission, Truong Thi Mai, who thanked Cuba for providing invaluable support to Vietnam during its fight for independence.El mismo día, Nguyen Dinh Khang, presidente de la CGTV, sostuvo conversaciones con Ulises Guilarte de Nacimiento, durante las cuales intercambiaron experiencias en materia sindical, así como medidas para apoyar a los trabajadores en la superación de las dificultades tras la pandemia de la COVID-19. Se comprometieron a seguir apoyándose mutuamente en los foros internacionales.
