Hands off Cuba
End the embargo now
The Greek government must withdraw its signature from the despicable anti-Cuban statement
The Greek government has chosen to co-sign, through its Secretary of State Nikos Dendias, a US State Department statement, along with 21 more USA-lackeys, accusing the Cuban government of allegedly massively violating the human and democratic rights of its citizens.
This happened on the occasion of the provocation that unfolded 10 days ago in Cuba when paid and coordinated US henchmen tried unsuccessfully to instigate the Cuban people, not only into protests against its legitimate government, but also into acts of violence, sabotage, bodily harm etc.
The attempt was unsuccessful, since from an island of 11 million inhabitants, only a few hundred people took part in these protests and incidents, while there was no follow-up after the first day (Sunday 11/7). And this despite the very serious difficulties that the Cuban people are indeed facing. Difficulties caused by the illegal, inhuman and murderous, economic, commercial and financial blockade ("embargo") that the USA impose on the island for 60 years, even today during the pandemic, depriving Cuba of even basic health supplies.
We should not forget that Cuba on its own efforts is already developing 5 vaccines against covid, millions of its citizens are already vaccinated, but at the same time, due to the embargo, Cuba lacks even syringes to vaccinate its people even faster.
The provocation did not catch on the Cuban people, and the next day millions of Cubans declared, marching in the streets, that they will not negotiate their independence and freedom with the US plunderers and terrorists. And since the media-show deflated, the original master-villains, the USA government decided to bypass their hirelings and "resurrect" the project with their own hands.
The choice of the Greek government, with the signature of Dendias and the seal of Mitsotakis, to once again obey the orders of the USA, is not only despicable and subservient to the USA, it is also ridiculous.
Greece is a country:
• where the security forces are a “fiefdom” of the fascist far right.
• where countless tons of teargas have been shot (in the last 10 years),
• where hundreds of social activists are regularly detained for insignificant reasons or even pre-emptively,
• where the iron-clad repressive forces runover protestor with their motorbikes, shoot, beat, inflict serious and permanent injuries with stones, truncheons, stun-grenades etc, and all this with absolute impunity
• where the “anti-terrorist squad” intervenes everywhere, invades homes without a warrant, kidnaps people etc
• whose prisons can easily be compared to medieval dungeons
• where Facebook and other media giants unopposed censor whatever they don’t like
• where the media systematically “feed” propaganda to the people under the protection -and for the protection- of the Government
• where any vote aimed to a party that does not pass 3% is cancelled.
So, when the government of this country questions Cuba about the quality of its democracy, it's just ridiculous.
Anyone speaking at least basic Spanish who has been in Cuba can attest that:
• there exists absolute freedom of expression
• no one is prosecuted or persecuted for his views
• no one is left helpless even in the state of siege of the blockade
Even if one has not been in Cuba, even if someone only watches what the international networks have shown about the events of July 11, one can immediately understands how ridiculous is the statement of the USA-Dendias and Co.
If we take out the photos and videos of mass mobilizations from Egypt and other exotic countries that were supposedly presented as Cuban, nowhere do we see more than a few hundred people (in most cases a few dozen).
If we also take out the photos from other countries with victims, beaten, etc. what we see is -at the worst case- some pushing and shoving with police officers who do not even carry a truncheon.
So, the Greek government must:
• Stop humiliating itself and especially embarrassing our country and people internationally.
• Stop consorting with the worst US protectorates, minions and thugs such as Colombia, Israel, Ukraine, Kosovo.
• Withdraw its signature immediately and apologize to the Republic of Cuba and the Greek people.
If not out of a sense of justice and objectivity, at least out of shame as -we suppose- did the "serious" European countries that have not deigned to co-sign such a ridiculous affair despite being traditionally US allies.
