Kingston, Jamaica, 24 February 2022. Dr. the Honourable Horace Chang, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Security of Jamaica, received the Cuban Ambassador Fermín Quiñones Sánchez yesterday at the headquarters of his ministry.
During the meeting, both parties acknowledged the bonds of cooperation existing between Jamaica and Cuba on areas as sensitive as Education and Health, and highlighted the importance of extending cooperation to other sectors such as trade, logistics and scientific research. They also noted the relevance of strengthening bilateral and regional cooperation mechanisms in the fields of security, migration, and law enforcement.
The Jamaican Minister reaffirmed his country's willingness to continue supporting Cuba in its battle for the lifting of the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the US government on the Greatest Island in the Antilles. He agreed with the Ambassador that unilateral coercive measures must be replaced by understanding and exchange for the common benefit of the peoples.
