Copenhagen- The Deputy Speaker and member of the Presidium of the Danish Parliament (Folketinget), Christian Juhl, received the Ambassador of Cuba in Denmark, Yiliam Gómez at the headquarters of the legislative body on June 11. They exchanged about opportunities of collaboration between both countries, the beginning of the work of the IX legislature of the National Assembly of People’s Power (ANPP/ Cuban Parliament), as well as other events with an impact on international relations.
The Deputy Speaker of the Danish Parliament showed interest about the progress made in the Mariel Special Development Zone. The Cuban diplomat stressed the positive progress of Mariel Special Development Zone, which is strategic for the Cuban economy as part of the updating process that is taking place in the Island, despite the many obstacles that continue to be imposed by the US government against Cuba through its policy of blockade. This was a propitious occasion to convey to the Danish member of the Presidium the composition of the Parliamentary Group of Friendship with the member countries of the European Union, which was approved by the Cuban Parliament during its recent session.
The Presidium of the Danish Parliament is the supreme authority of the Danish legislative body, integrated by 179 parliamentarians. The Presidium comprises a Speaker and up to four Deputy Speakers.
Before leaving the premises of Folketinget, the Cuban diplomat exchanged greetings with Mogens Lykketoft, former Speaker of the Danish Parliament and former Minister of Foreign Affaris, with whom she met a few weeks ago. (Embacuba Dinamarca)
