Namibia, June 26th, 2019- The television show "Good Morning Namibia" once again hosted Cuban diplomatic Aldo Luis Fuentes Acosta who updated the Namibian public on the history of bilateral relations between Cuba and the United States, as well as the consequences for Cuba of the economic, commercial and financial blockade.
The Cuban representative explained, in broad strokes, the United States-Cuba dispute. Fuentes emphasized the historical interest of the most conservative sectors in the United States in the dominance of the Caribbean country, from even before the independence of the Thirteen Colonies.
He also explained that the objective pursued by the US government with the blockade is the destruction of the Cuban Revolution and regain control over all areas of life on the island. In this regard, he cited the memorandum written by the Assistant Secretary of State during the Kennedy Administration, Lester D. Mallory, where it is stated that the objective of economic sanctions is to undermine the support of the Cuban people to the revolutionary government, provoking hunger and despair.
Fuentes also denounced that the US Blockade constitutes the main obstacle to the development of Cuba, as well as a violation of national sovereignty, of the human rights of the Cuban people, of international laws and of the Charter of the United Nations. He also condemned the extraterritorial nature of the blockade and how it affects Cuba's links with the rest of the countries of the world.
The Cuban diplomatic also referred to the international support received by Cuba in its fight against the US genocidal policy. Remembered as every year, in the General Assembly of the United Nations, with the exception of the United States and Israel, the entire international community condemns the US blockade.
In this regard, he highlighted the unconditional support of the Namibian government and people to the fight against the blockade, both in the United Nations and the African Union, as well as in other multilateral forums.
