NIGERIA, April 19, 2018. The Cuban ambassador, Carlos Trejo Sosa, in Nigeria was received at the Chancery headquarters by the new director of America and the Caribbean, Grace Chia-Sani. The meeting took place in a friendly and cordial atmosphere, an example of the bilateral ties between both nations.
Carlos Trejo referred to the general elections in Cuba that began in 2017 and culminated in the Constituent Session of the National Assembly of People's Power, where a new President of the Republic must be elected. He provided an update on the relations of the Embassy with the federal institutions, and thanked Cuba and the Nigerian government for the donation made for the recovery caused by the damage caused during the passage of Hurricane Irma. He also thanked the Nigerian government for its unconditional support for the Cuban resolution against the blockade presented every year in the United Nations General Assembly.
For her part, Grace Chia-Sani, recognized the role of Cuba in the training of Nigerian youth in the Medicine career. He expressed his satisfaction with the information provided by the Cuban diplomat and supported the idea of continuing to strengthen ties between the two countries.
