Kuala Lumpur, February 15- The Cuban Ambassador to Malaysia, Ibete Fernandez, paid a courtesy call to the Director General of the Association of Southeast Asian States (ASEAN), Mr. Samuel Jojie.
During the meeting Mr Jojie explained about the successes and challenges facing the organization as well as the actions that its members are currently carrying out to strengthen it. He also commented on the activities that will be organized to celebrate this year the 50th anniversary of its establishment.
For her part, the Cuban ambassador took the opportunity to promote the organization's participation in the next cooperation meeting of the Association of Caribbean States (AEC) to be held in Havana on 8 March.
Currently the Philippines is the country that presides over ASEAN and will host the summit meetings of the organization in April and November this year.
