 Director of Subsaharian Africa begins visit to The Gambia

Ambassador Gisela García Rivera, Director of Sub-Saharan Africa of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Cuba, began a working visit to the Gambia aimed to strengthening bilateral ties.

On the first day of her stay, the Cuban diplomat held a fruitful exchange with officials of the Gambian Foreign Ministry, headed by the Permanent Secretary, Head of the Diplomatic Service, Ebrima O. Camara.

In a fraternal and friendly atmosphere, both parties reviewed bilateral ties and expressed a common interest in elevating these ties to a higher level.

Mr. Camara highlighted the interest to increase the exchange of experiences and strengthen collaboration in important sectors for the Gambia such as health, education, agriculture and sports. He commented that Gambian government is implementing the National Development Plan 2018-2020, as part of the efforts to develop the country.

The Cuban official, for her part, expressed Cuba's willingness to diversify relations with the Gambia and to cooperate with its modest resources for the future of this African nation.
