Islamabad, 29 June 2026. A professional and friendly exchange took place at the Pakistani Foreign Ministry during the meeting held between the Cuban Ambassador, Damián Cordero and Dr Ali Waqas Mali, Director I of the United Nations Division at the ministry.
During the meeting, they discussed issues of common interest to both countries in the multilateral sphere within international organisations. The Pakistani diplomat acknowledged Cuba’s hard work within these bodies, whilst the Cuban ambassador commended Pakistan’s masterful mediation efforts in support of peace in the region. He also expressed his gratitude once again for Pakistan’s vote in the United Nations in favour of the Cuban resolution against the US blockade.
The meeting also provided an opportunity for the Cuban diplomat to explain in detail the complex situation facing the Cuban people in the face of an energy blockade resulting from the unjust escalation of that blockade and the increase in the unilateral coercive measures underpinning it.
