The Ambassador of Cuba, Pedro Luis Despaigne González received the engineer Samuel Kwashie Amegbor, director of the Vocational Training and Rehabilitation Institute (VTRI), Biriwa, Cape Coast, capital city of the Central region.
The visitor, who thanked the possibility of knowing about Cuba, through its embassy, explained that his institution is inserted in the total of 34 of its kind existing throughout the country, and that the young people who study in their classrooms are trained in deficit trades in the country, among them: carpenters, masons, electricians, automotive mechanics, tailors and seamstresses. He commented that he himself was a product of that training system, since his first studies were carpentry.
The Cuban Ambassador referred to the historical relationship between Ghana and Cuba, emphasizing how in the current year diplomatic ties will reach their six decades. He highlighted how Cuba has contributed to the professional training of more than two thousand Ghanaian youths of both sexes, and commented on the contacts held with the leaders of vocational technical education in Ghana.
The engineer Amegbor was accompanied by the school administrator, Mr. Emmanuel Ayim, who is a training mathematician. The First Secretary, Julio César Sánchez, also attended the meeting.
