The documentary "The enigma of La Coubre" is presented in Geneva

PRESS RELEASE

Geneva, June 3, 2019. "The enigma of La Coubre", a documentary that recalls one of the bloodiest attacks perpetrated by the CIA against the Cuban Revolution, the blasting of La Coubre steam ship, on March 4, 1960, was presented in this city with the presence of its director, Colombian journalist and writer Hernando Calvo Ospina.

The twenty-five minute documentary that was shown at the Casa de las Asociaciones in Geneva includes the testimonies of Cuban historians, relatives of Cuban victims and French survivors of the attack on that ship.

Statements were made in the hall as well as questions and reflections on the need to continue investigating and deepening on such event; as well as to spread it so that it is not forgotten, so that the Historical Memory is not silenced and reaches the current and future generations, not only of Cuba, but also of Europe.

The presentation was organized by the Geneva section of the Swiss Cuba Association, and had the support of the National Committee of the Association Medicuba Switzerland, the Cine-Club "Tomás Gutiérrez Alea" and our Mission.

A large audience made up of members of friendship associations, Swiss and Latin Americans, diplomats and Cuban residents, thanked the hours of sleeplessness and investigation about the explosion of the French ship La Coubre, which arrived at Havana port with weapons despite pressure from the United States to prevent their arrival in the country. An event that still remains in the memory of many Cubans, which left more than one hundred dead and 400 wounded.
