Athens, 25 January. The magazine "Selidodaiktis" for education and society organized in Athens an important event on "Education and scientific advances of the Cuban people: an experience worth discussing”. The documentary Maestra, by journalist Catherine Murphy, about the literacy campaign in Cuba was screened, and the filmmaker was interviewed on Skype. In addition, Giota Ioanido, responsible for the magazine's editorial commission; Zelmys Maria Dominguez Cortina, Cuban ambassador to Greece; and Natasa Terlexi, of the José Martí Cultural Association of Friendship with Cuba were also spoken. There was also an interesting debate where the ambassador and the counsellor of the Cuban Embassy José Oriol Marrero Martínez, answered multiple questions from those present. There were emphasized the achievements of the Cuban revolution despite the effects of the unfair economic, commercial and financial blockade of the United States against Cuba, which was harshly condemned by friends. The José Martí Cultural Association also circulated a signature sheet condemning the blockade. Among the more than 60 attendees were teachers from various levels of teaching, representatives of various political forces, friends of solidarity associations and the general public interested in the subject.
